Providing A Variety of Light Assembly and Packaging Solutions

Chelle Medical provides its customers with niche medical device contract manufacturing solutions. Our three primary solutions are:

Chelle Medical Flexible Support

We regularly support customers who need additional light manufacturing capacity or wish to offload light assembly projects that don’t fit their in-house manufacturing model. Our team can support silicon assembly, single use device assembly and light electromechanical assembly. Our support capabilities include supply chain management of our customers’ approved suppliers and purchasing of required materials. Printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and precision engineered parts are normally sourced from customer-designated third-party suppliers for electromechanical assembly operations.

Chelle Medical Remanufacturing / Refurbishment Support

While the wealthier nations of the world want the latest technology in their medical products and have the budgets to pay for it, developing nations are often happier with the price points of older technology, provided it has been refurbished and meets appropriate quality standards. In a perfect world, this cycle of reuse helps minimize e-waste and ensure that products are fully utilized over their entire useable life. The challenge is that the combined cost of tariffs and refurbishment can make this process too costly to pursue. Chelle Medical’s Seychelles location enables us to offer the right mix of superior quality and competitive cost. The Seychelles participation in African trade agreements such as COMESA and SADC combined with its International Trade Zone Sector (SITZ) simplify market entry and may eliminate or mitigate tariffs. We can support projects requiring cleaning, testing, repairing, refurbishing, remanufacturing and/or repackaging older technology medical products. Our superior quality focus and certifications help ensure that the products it refurbishes or remanufactures meet end market regulatory requirements.

Chelle Medical Emerging Market Support

Our geographic proximity to Africa and the Middle East along with the SITZ and preferential trade agreements such as COMESA and SADC, make Chelle Medical a good option for light assembly of medical devices destined for countries in this region. Our clean room infrastructure and availability of experienced assemblers ensures flexibility in range of products that can be assembled. Our team can also support the logistics side of the equation with packaging, Customs documentation support and shipping to end market.

Success Stories

Outsourcing is often as much as business strategy as it is a manufacturing strategy. The following examples illustrate ways Chelle Medical’s superior quality, niche contract manufacturing services and ability to help lower total project cost have supported various customer strategies.

Regional Support for Acquired Product Line

A Swiss medical device company acquired a pain management pump product line that was manufactured in Mexico. They had no other products manufactured in Mexico and wanted to move manufacturing closer to their European operations while keeping costs comparable to what they were paying in Mexico. Chelle Medical had the requisite quality certifications/registrations, rigorous compliance mechanisms, appropriate clean room space and the desired cost structure to manufacture the product and ship to the customer’s preferred locations.

Cleaning and Repackaging of Older Product Line

An Italian manufacturer of surgical screws needed products cleaned and repackaged. Chelle Medical was able to cost effectively perform the operation to required quality specifications. Since Chelle is located in the SITZ, import/export was simplified and no tariffs applied.

Cost Reduction for Acquired Product Line

A manufacturer of laryngeal masks acquired a UK company who was manufacturing a different version of the laryngeal mask specifically for the UK market. The operations were transferred to Chelle to lower manufacturing cost. Chelle’s robust compliance systems have ensured that the UK quality standards continue to be met.

Cost Reduction of an Existing Product Line

A manufacturer of video laryngoscopes in Switzerland, wanted to lower its costs. The manufacturing line was transferred to Chelle with the objective of lowering the product cost due to a lower labour rate..

Expansion and Cost Reduction

When the European manufacturer of a tracheal seal monitor (TSM) saw its volumes increase substantially, it chose to set up a second production line at Chelle Medical. Over time, as the customer saw the value for price that Chelle was able to offer all TSM production was moved to Chelle.
